A few days ago I woke up on the proverbial wrong side of the bed. I was groggy, irritable, exhausted, and just in a plain ol’ bad mood. My morning shower didn’t help, nor did breakfast. I could find no reason to smile. Nonetheless, I could sense the Lord urging me to press through the fog and connect with him. “I’ll keep trying Lord,” I thought to myself. It felt so difficult. My face muscles didn’t want to comply. Sleepiness veiled the twinkle in my eye. Lethargy took away the pep in my step. Yet, I kept pressing. With the help of my wife and a few songs, the Lord lifted the fog, and out of nowhere, a smile appeared on my face. I genuinely felt the joy of the Lord, and this joy strengthened me just as the book of Nehemiah says.
Be encouraged today and know that the joy of the Lord can be your strength, as well. Whether you woke up on the wrong side of the bed, or you don’t even have a bed, keep pursuing the Lord, and he will lift the fog.
